Online luxury retailer Net-a-Porter has been a go-to fashion and beauty source for style-setters for decades. Naturally, amid a year when shoppers have spent less time putting together looks from their closets and beauty vanities and more time dressing the table, the company is furthering its reach within the home with a number of tabletop introductions.
“We want to be a full-service destination shop,” Lea Cranfield, Net-a-Porter’s chief buying and merchandising officer, tells AD PRO. “Now that people are home more than ever, we are seeing a lot of focus on homeware and interiors in general.” The expansion comes only a few months after Net-a-Porter launched its lifestyle category, debuting a Homeware edit consisting of decorative objects and soft goods from Anissa Kermiche, Erdem, and CompletedWorks, among others. The company also recently inked a deal with Loewe Home Scents to build out its home fragrance selection.
Cranfield anticipates Net-a-Porter’s clientele will be quick to adapt to the new offerings. “Tableware is so special and a beautiful way to show off one’s personality,” she says. The key? Having a great selection to choose from. Net-a-Porter’s debut tabletop partners include L’Objet, featuring the brand’s hand-gilded Perlée porcelain collection, as well as serveware from its Haas Brothers collaboration. Ginori’s mythological-inspired collection with Luke Edward Hall, among other designs, is also now available at the retailer. Collections from Helle Mardahl, Vanderohe Curio, La DoubleJ, Bernadette, Brunello Cucinelli, Laetitia Rouget, and more are scheduled to be released over the coming months.
As for what can be expected of the category’s rolling spring launch, Cranfield says the buying team is keeping in mind a jovial, brightly hued selection. “We are seeing a lot of colored glass, [as well as] intricate detailing for tabletop accessories from L’Objet and Ginori,” notes Cranfield. “Brands such as Laetitia Rouget and Bernadette bring a playful, chintzy yet modern mix of tableware, where La DoubleJ is very feminine with a vintage feel.” An abundance of style to work with, indeed.
