Goop Launches Its First Permanent Store in San Francisco

Meet the newest addition to Fillmore’s shopping strip. After a successful holiday pop-up, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle company is opening Goop Lab, its first official store in San Francisco. The brand partnered with interior design firm Ronen Lev to create a space that’s inspired by modern California homes and the landscape of Marin County.

InterContinental San Francisco Hotel Completes Presidential Suite Renovation

As the finishing touch to a full interior renovation, the InterContinental San Francisco hotel revealed a newly designed presidential suite that occupies the the property’s 31st and 32nd floors. The hotel tapped San Francisco–based firm BraytonHughes Design Studio to give the 2,000-square-foot penthouse an artful allure. Highlights include a custom de Gournay gold leaf wall covering, plenty of artwork, and a black and white stone floor inspired by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Hem Showroom to Host a Talk on the Future of Retail Design

Head to Hem’s pop-up shop in Hayes Valley on Wednesday, November 20, for a conversation on the future of retail design. Moderator Angela Tafoya, editorial director of Lonny, will be joined by Rapt Studio’s Rachel Newell and designer Jonathan Olivares, who created the space for Hem. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m, and guests can RSVP here.

San Francisco Design Center Hosts a Beach Clean-Up Challenge

The design center is asking designers to participate in a little pre-Thanksgiving giving back. The SFDC is inviting design teams to come out to Baker Beach on November 24 at 11 a.m. to help clean up debris and garbage. The team that picks up the most litter will reportedly win a prize. San Francisco to Develop the Native American Cultural District

Leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Occupation of Alcatraz, when Native Americans staked out the island to protest and defend their heritage, San Francisco supervisor Hillary Ronen announced the city will create the Native American Cultural District, according to Curbed. Long before the area became a technology epicenter, approximately 40 different tribes lived between Big Sur and the Bay Area. The new district will reportedly span from Sanchez to Folsom Streets, and between 14th and 17th Streets.

San Francisco Leads the Race in Million-Dollar Homes

According to a study by online loan marketplace Lending Tree, San Francisco takes second place for having the most homes valued at $1 million or more in the United States. (First place goes to San Jose.) While 5.86 percent of homes in the country’s largest cities are valued at $1 million or more, Lending Tree found 42.39 percent, or 359,858 homes, cost seven figures in San Francisco.

This Cow Hollow Home Has More Cars Than a Dealership

A new home hitting the market in Cow Hollow has a commodity necessary for any Silicon Valley car buff. The $15 million dollar gated home features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a 15-car garage, according to SF Gate. The home dates back to 1939 and was originally designed by a famed modernist architect Gardner Dailey.
