Choice Home Warranty Reviews

We listened to more than a dozen customer service calls as part of our research of Choice’s home warranty plans and customer service. We were impressed with the quality and patience of each customer service representative’s explanations to questions about how a home warranty and homeowners insurance differ, as well as the ease of setting up a policy if the customer decided they were interested.

It’s necessary to mention that Choice Home Warranty is currently part of a class-action lawsuit in Arizona. The lawsuit alleges that the company routinely failed to communicate with customers throughout the claims process and denied claims that customers thought would be covered. When we reached out to the company for comment, a representative told us that more than 90% of 1.1 million claims had been approved in 2021.

Nonetheless, to avoid denied claims and potential confusion, we recommend customers carefully review the user agreement and familiarize themselves with their policy’s limitations and exclusions

We read more than 600 reviews and pulled the ones we felt spoke to the common upsides and downsides of Choice Home Warranty. Below you’ll find a few customers’ experiences with the company, which highlight the convenience of connecting to customer service agents and the quick claims response time, as well as some of the realities of waiting for a part to be ordered before it can be replaced.

Even though I’ve only had a few calls with Choice Home Warranty, it is always easy to get in touch with my account manager or another representative… no long wait times or confusing automated systems. The reps are super helpful and always professional. Looking forward to doing business with you all. Keep up the great work! —Emanuel Walker via Google Reviews

The gentlemen who came were helpful and informative. The insurance should allow them to carry some tools and address some of the issues if they are small and respond to the bigger issues at a later time. I understand the bigger items take more consideration, but the small ones should be repaired quickly while the workers are in the home. —Yvette Ramos via Google Reviews

Great experience with Choice Home Warranty. My hot water heater went out. [The] next day, a technician was at my home. He put in the order to replace my water heater, and their response was immediate to approve my order. —Harmony Zon via Google Reviews

In the [five] times I’ve used Choice, [four] out of [five] times, parts had to be ordered (rather than having them on the truck) and a second visit was required. This may be how the system is designed to operate—it sure reduces [money] tied up in parts inventory—but depending upon the system affected, the wait to complete the repair can be irritating. —Weston J Waugh via Google Reviews

Choice Home Warranty FAQ

How We Chose the Top Home Warranty Providers

Our team reviewed and researched dozens of home warranty providers, thoroughly analyzed sample agreements, and identified customer pain points based on customer-review analysis and interviews with industry experts.

During this process, we determined that the most critical aspects of a home warranty company include available service plans and add-ons, depth of coverage, plan cost, industry reputation, customer support infrastructure, and additional features. We also focused on the ability to choose your own contractor, upgrade your coverage package, transfer your plan to another owner, and cover roof leaks, high-end appliance brands, ceiling and exhaust fans, and faucets and fixtures.

Our research supported that plan coverage should carry the most weight, with customer support as the second-most important factor. Industry reputation, plan availability, and additional features were rated equally. Therefore, we determined that price range, while worth considering, should not be the primary basis for choosing a home warranty provider for your home’s needs.
